How to BBQ Fish perfectly every time

Fish can be a little tricky at times and more often than not, you end up with it broken up.

To keep your fish in one piece, cook it at the edge of your plate.
When it needs to be turned, grip the liner underneath with a pair of tongs.
Lift it up so that the fish rolls over gently.

That way there is no need to touch it.
Use a large plastic or wooden slice to remove the fish onto a plate.

Good luck, Annelies

Keeping Your Oven Clean with a Non Stick Liner

Use a non-stick Oven Tray Liner on a tray and slide in at the bottom of your oven. It will catch the drips and spills of casserole, souffles and the like. (Do not put it on the oven floor by itself. Your instruction book will tell you not to and it is wise to follow that advise).

This saves hard scrubbing later, just clean the non-stick liner with warm soapy water.

I have a wall oven with a separate grill underneath. A fitted piece is permanently on there. I don’t see the need for it but should you be worried about the fat not draining, the simple solution is to punch in tiny pin pricks which will not adversely affect the use of the liner.

While talking about non stick liners and ovens, you can cover baking tins or oven trays with a liner to stop your food browning when it is brown but not quite done.

Spinach & Mushroom Roulade Recipe

One of our favourite lunches is a Spinach Roulade and Salad. I use a Slice or Lamington tray with a pre-cut liner and an extra piece to turn it out on. This dish is not difficult to make but it looks and tastes great and will impress your guests.

Spinach & Mushroom Roulade

Serves four

250 g (8oz) frozen chopped spinach, thawed or 500 g ( 1lb) fresh spinach
Knob of butter
4 eggs separated
25 g (1 oz) parmesan cheese grated
salt and freshly ground pepper

FILLING
15g (½ oz) mushroom buttons, sliced
1 tablespoon flour
150 ml (1/4 pint) milk
pinch of nutmeg

Line a 30×20 cm (12 x 8 inches) Slice or Lamington Tin with a Non Stick Liner.

Cook spinach with knob of butter until soft, chop and place in a large bowl. Add the egg yolks, beat well and season to taste.

Whisk egg whites till peaks just hold shape. Using a metal spoon, quickly fold them into the spinach mixture and put into the tin. Sprinkle the cheese over the top and bake in a preheated oven 200C or 400F for ten minutes.

Meanwhile make the filling.

Heat butter, add mushrooms and fry till softened. Stir in flour and cook for one minute. Stir in the milk slowly and cook until thickened. Stir in the nutmeg and season to taste.

Remove the tin from the oven. Cover with another piece of Liner (any one, as long as it covers) and turn out on to a flat surface whilst holding the top sheet in place. Quickly spread filling over the surface and gently roll up the roulade, using the Liner on the bottom to roll. Should it leave any residue, carefully scape it off with a knife and back onto the roulade. Cut into thick slices and serve.

Offer sweet chilli sauce as a topping.

PS I don’t cook the spinach, I just chop it. This makes it a little less juicy.

Good luck, Annelies

How to Stop Pastry Sticking To the Board

Rolling out pastry on a non-stick liner makes the job a breeze.

The one thing you do have to do is tape the sheet down on the corners.

You will find it works like a treat.

The pastry is easily cleaned off with a hot soapy cloth.

Allergies? Non Stick Liners and Toaster bags come to the rescue

Selling our Liners at markets fairs, shows etc., gives us the chance to talk to people.

We are always amazed how many people suffer from allergies and can’t eat the same food as everyone else or even use the same cooking facilities. Then there are those who choose to be Vegetarian or Vegan.

The Non Stick Liners are a great little product for people who have to be careful when it comes to food.

No longer do you have to miss out on a BBQ. Take a separate piece just for you, we sell them in many seizes.

Are you missing out on toast because everyone uses bread that you can’t have? forget about buying another toaster just for you.

Toaster bags are your answer. You can use these not only at home but they come in handy for a toasted sandwich at work.

Prepare at home and have a delicious cheese or other toasted sandwich for lunch. Most work places now have toasters.

Happy Easter Annelies

Scrumptious Dutch Cream Fudge Recipe

Scrumptious Dutch Cream Fudge

175 g Sugar
3 Tablesp. cream

Heat the cream, add the sugar, bring to boil.

Cook and stir till the last drop, coming off the spoon turns into a thread. When a thick thread is formed that does not pull back, take off the stove and add the butter.

Beat well whilst cooling for 3-5 minutes.

Pour into greased shapes or small lined tin or dish.

Trust you’ll love it like me, Annelies.

More ways to use non-stick liners – glues, paints. dehydrators, etc.

There are a few more uses for the Non Stick Liner I’d like to mention.

We all know that even with the best intentions, using glue can end up sticky and messy.  Place a liner underneath and don’t worry about spilling some. The glue can be removed from the sheet by rubbing your finger over it. It will all come off.

We often sell small Liners that people use for mixing paint.  Not quite the right colour? No problem, wipe over with a damp sponge and start again.  I am talking of-course about mixing paint at Art classes or at home.

At most Markets and Craft Fairs you will find one or more stalls, selling soap, home made.  Nothing sticks to the Liners, making them ideal for this work.

Use a small piece for difficult to iron things like applique, quilting or suede. It works really well.

Need a replacement strip for your heat sealer? Next time purchase a small inexpensive liner.

For people who use Dehydrators, you might like to think of buying one of our  small Liners, rather than the expensive replacements. It will work just as well.

I’ve been posting some recipes recently, and hope I have given you plenty of food for thought.

Use a non-stick liner in your Microwave

My chocolate sauce that had gone hard in the fridge needed a melt down so I put it in the microwave. Unfortunately I set it for more than it needed and half the bottle spilt over the top, what a mess!!

No need for too much concern as I had a Non Stick Liner at the bottom. In the sink with hot water, a little detergent a sponge and a few minutes later all the evidence of the disaster was gone.

We sell small and large squares to take the hassle out of times like this.
