The Perfect Egg Nog
Egg nog has much to recommend it:
It is rich, spicy and alcoholic.
Served chilled, it is a perfect party drink.

To make a large jug:
Beat 6 egg yolks in a large bowl (keep the whites)
with ½ a cup of sugar until pale and thick.
Continue to beat and slowly add
1 ½ cups of brandy and ½ a cup of rum.
Stir through 2 cups of cream and 2 cups of milk.
Refridgerate for at least 2 hours.
Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt
until soft peaks form and gently fold
through the chilled mixture.
Place in a large jug with ice.
Serve in small cups with a sprinkle of nutmeg.
